The South Dakota Stockgrowers Association is proud announce the honorees for their 129th Annual Convention and Trade Show! Jim Murphy, Mike Maher, Jim Reed, and Lyndell Petersen will all be honored at this year’s event. On Friday night, Nov. 6th, at the annual awards and recognition banquet, these four outstanding individuals will be awarded with Lifetime Achievement recognition.
Jim Murphy has been a Stockgrower since 1962. During that time Jim has served in many capacities and can still be found helping out at our booth during the Black Hills Stock show and at many other SDSGA events. Jim and his wife Gay reside on their ranch near Hermosa, SD
Mike Maher has been a Stockgrower since 2001. Mike recently served as the Region 1 Vice President as well as in several leadership roles in the past. Mike has constantly been the backbone of membership and fundraising drives for the Association. Mike and his wife Marcia continue to ranch near Isabel, SD
Jim Reed’s official SDSGA membership began in 1993. Many know Jim from his numerous years with the brand inspection program. Jim continues to be an advocate for the SDSGA in his retirement.
Lyndell Petersen joined the SDSGA in 1987 and has been instrumental in many programs even before that time. Lyndell’s biography is too lengthy to list but it will suffice to say he is a legend all-across South Dakota and beyond. Lyndell was inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2019.
Everyone is invited to attend the banquet to help honor these great contributors to the SDSGA and our entire industry! The annual awards and recognition banquet will be held Friday Nov. 6 at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn in Rapid City, SD. The Social hour will begin at 5:30pm with the banquet to follow. There will also be an auction and live entertainment after the program.
